Barbie and Fred Patterson ’79 have partnered with university architects to achieve preservation goals on campus heritage buildings during the last 25 years.

From the Jack K. Williams Administration Building to the Animal Industries Building, Barbie and Fred Patterson ’79 have had a hand in helping preserve many of the heritage buildings on campus through renovations completed by their company, Patterson Architects.

“It’s a special process bringing historic buildings up to modern-day standards while still keeping the aesthetics true to when they were built,” Fred shared.

The couple has partnered with university architects to achieve preservation goals on campus heritage buildings during the last 25 years. But after a few projects, they noticed how often a lack of funding limited the restoration’s scope.

To fill this gap, the Pattersons established the Texas A&M Heritage Building Endowment to fund refurbishments and ensure historic campus buildings remain part of Aggieland.

They hope their endowment grows through contributions from like-minded individuals who value heritage and want to support perseveration projects that have been deferred or limited, such as repairing the Academic Building’s rotunda.

“Giving to this endowment may not result in getting your name carved in stone on a new building,” Barbie said, “but it does solidify your contribution in preserving Texas A&M history.”
