Breaking the Bubble: Focused on solving Conflict, limited Connectivity and Conservation
Dr. Leslie Ruyle thrives on bringing together diverse voices to solve problems. At Women, Wealth & Wisdom, she will share some of her work with students as well as her program on entrepreneurship and women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a region known for its difficulty to work in due to Conflict, limited Connectivity, and Conservation concern which she has coined EC3. Her pilot project is along the border of Virunga National Park a World Heritage Site (Conservation), the electricity comes primarily from generators and there are no paved roads in the province (Connectivity), and the region has been in conflict for over 20 years (Conflict). Dr. Ruyle and her local team have identified women who are breaking the bubble and looking for their own creative solutions to bring them and their families out of poverty. The EC3 program provides seed money, training, mentorship, and a work space to support these innovators in a region others don't dare venture.
