Women, Money, Love & Loss

This seminar discusses some of the latest findings in behavioral science and how women can use this knowledge to develop financial security and avoid regrets during life’s transitional periods, such as widowhood, divorce or selling a business. Attendees will learn how the human brain works, how the female brain differs from the male brain, and how all of this applies to our decision making.

The goal of this seminar is to help every woman better understand her strengths and weaknesses, learn to ask the right questions, and ultimately, to make financial decisions that lead to stability, confidence and a sense of purpose. It can also help women in relationships to avoid miscommunication and misunderstandings with their mates, equipping her with tools that promote working together to capitalize on each individual’s strengths to pursue long-term financial success.

The company specializes in providing wealth management and transition planning services to clients experiencing Life Changing Events, such as retirement, widowhood, or selling a business. She has developed a unique process for delivering these services to her clients called The TruWealth® Process. Using this proprietary, consultative process, she works closely with a team of tax and legal professionals to help clients transition to their new paradigm with confidence.

Joy believes that true wealth is not just a measure of one’s financial assets, but the sum of a person’s health, wealth, and personal relationships. She has devoted her professional career to helping others define their values, dream new dreams and align their wealth accordingly.

Joy is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM, a member of the Sudden Money® Institute, a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist SM, and the co-leader of the Dallas Chapter of Modern Widows Club, a non-profit entity dedicated to educating and empowering widows. She is active in the Dallas Financial Planning Association and former chairman of the Ft. Worth Business & Estate planning Section of the Ft. Worth Bar Association. She graduated cum laude from the University of Dallas with a bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Although Joy has won several industry awards, including being recognized as one of The Best Financial Planners in Dallas by D Magazine* and a Five Star Wealth Manager by Texas Monthly magazine**, she is most proud of her twenty-five talented, beautiful and exceptional nieces and nephews. When she is not chained to her desk, she can be found on her farm in East Texas, usually in her garden or rocking on her front porch and watching the sunset.

* “The Best Financial Planners in Dallas” was compiled by asking every CFP® in the Dallas-Ft. Worth chapter of the Financial Planners Association to cast an online ballot. Outside-firm votes counted more than inside-firm votes. Self-nominations were tossed out. A panel of esteemed local financial planners reviewed the final list.
** ”The FiveStar Wealth Manager” is an award based on client satisfaction. Respondents evaluate criteria such as customer service, expertise, value for fee charged and overall satisfaction. The overall score is based on an average of all respondents and may not be representative of any one client's experience.

Ashley’s career has offered her amazing insight into the personal lives of individuals that she comes in contact with on a daily basis. That insight, along with her own personal journey, spurred her to put her passion on paper. The stories and personal experiences over her career motivated her to write a book geared towards helping families gain not only personal well-being, but financial well-being. The Saving Seed: Growing a Financially Healthy Family Tree is Ashley’s gift to others. Her philosophy on life is one of becoming self and becoming greater than our temporal world suggests. “What can we do that will positively impact others and allow us to grow?” “We must give to others and the world. It is not ours to own and we must leave a positive impression as we pass by on our journey.”
