Held at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s Disaster City training facility right here in Aggieland, Disaster Day is one of the nation’s largest student-led emergency simulations and offers immersive training experiences for students across a wide range of majors. Built to mimic the aftermath of natural and manmade disasters, the site provides a dynamic environment where students sharpen their emergency response skills and prepare for real-world disasters.

In this video from our Discovering Aggieland series, you’ll meet Tyler Watson ’27, this year’s student planning director for Disaster Day. He’ll give you a behind-the-scenes look at how it all comes together and how the event equips students with practical experience for their future careers in health care, emergency services and more. As he walks you through the day, Tyler also explains how you can support Disaster Day and highlights why the event plays such an important role in developing future leaders in emergency response—reflecting Texas A&M’s mission to innovate, lead and serve.
