The season of giving is upon us, and creating the perfect gift through the Texas A&M Foundation can be a fulfilling experience that helps others and secures your Texas A&M legacy. We understand your desire to structure your gift for maximum impact on students, faculty and programs at Texas A&M.

Did you know you can add value to your next gift without reducing your assets? Consider these five reasons to use matching funds with your next donation.

1. A little can go a long way.

Corporate matching opportunities can double, triple, or even quadruple the amount of your original gift. Some companies offer retirees and widows of employees the same matching options. Search our online database to find out if your employer will match your gift to the Foundation. If you do not see your company listed, talk to your human resources department about gift matching options.

From left to right: Porter S. Garner III ’79, President and CEO of The Association of Former Students; Mark Albers ’79, Senior Vice President of ExxonMobil; George Hickox ’81, Chairman of the Texas A&M Foundation Board of Trustees; and Ed Davis ’67, President of the Texas A&M Foundation celebrated a $1.9 million dollar check to the Texas A&M Foundation as part of the company’s gift matching program.

2. Matching gifts do not require an employer to participate.

Not all companies offer matching opportunities, but there are often additional resources available at A&M that provide the same benefits. In the past, The Minnie Belle and Herman F. Heep Foundation helped establish a chair in Experimental Optical and Biomedical Physics through gift matching; the Bum Bright matching programs helped other donors endow 25 faculty chairs and numerous Corps scholarships; and Doug Pitcock matched ten Corps of Cadets 21st Century scholarships. If you have a specific giving interest at Texas A&M, contact a development officer to ask about our creative matching programs.

3. You can inspire others.

Spread your philanthropic spirit by earmarking a portion of your gift as matching funds for future donations from others. What better way to promote generosity than by helping future donors realize a greater giving potential? By establishing your own matching fund, you will encourage others to donate by increasing the impact of their gifts.

4. Create a lasting Aggie legacy.

Groups like the ExxonMobil Foundation have given upward of $17 million from gift matching alone. This year’s contribution was nearly $2 million. Be a part of a collaborative giving effort at your company by joining others through matching programs.

5. The benefits are plentiful. The process is simple.

Matching gifts can include a check, cash, credit card or publically traded securities. Like other gifts, you can still receive a charitable deduction for the amount you give.
